SAT SEPT 27th - U10s SLIP TO FIRST DEFEAT
The under 10s travelled to Selston hoping to make it four from four and having yet to concede
a goal and looking to hold on to top spot.
The Under 10s however, never reached the level of performance of the past few weeks and found
the home team in good form on a very, very tight pitch.
A goalless first half was mainly down to the superb De-Ville in goal and the younger of the
Vaughans at the back, the whole team however put a lot in to keep the scores level by the break
having soaked up a fair amount of home pressure.
The second half started in a similar fashion with the homesters piling on the pressure, the
lead eventually came to Selston but was a tad fortunate. Keeper De-Ville twisting his knee in the process of saving,
sustaining an injury and to make matters even worse than the pain he was obviously suffering, further pain arrived in
the form of the ball squirming over the line to make it 1-0.
Old Boys had few chances and with the De-Ville replaced in goal by outfield player Vaughan, the Old Boys
where drastically weakened. A second goal arrived to make it 2-0 when their player shot from close range, just beating
the stand in keeper.
Old Boys rallied in the late stages and one lad in particular was not only upset at the
proceedings, but also wound up! Enter Nico Maxfield face full of a mixture of sorrow and anger
he bore down on goal chasing a through ball, the keeper appeared to gather but Maxfield was in no mood
to give up the chase and clattered the keeper and ball, the latter rolling into the net.
Everyone waited for the ref to signal a foul on the keeper but to our amazement he gave the goal, a decision
which infuriated who we assume was the keepers father who saw Yellow.
A final push in the last two minutes was too much to ask as the brave under 10s went down 2-1 and in doing
so surrendered the top spot in the league.
Could play a bit better but couldnt give any more effort and all at the club wish De-Ville a speedy recovery and
hope to see him in the sticks again soon.
Heads up lads.
SAT SEPTEMBER 20th - UNDER 10s WIN AGAIN TO TOP LEAGUE
The under 10s started where they finished off the week before with a solid back three and
went from strength to strength. The breakthrough arrive midway through the first half
when a defence splitting pass found Nico Maxfield who slotted home to make it 1-0.
Five minutes before the break and the lead was doubled when a cracking long range free
kick from Nathan Vaughan was glanced home by the head of Nathan Amos.
Credit due to the visitors who then rallied an put the tangerines under a period of heavy
pressure but the back line and impressive Jordan De-Ville kept the visitors at bay with
a 2-0 half time lead.
The second half started brightly for the homesters and a third goal arrived when
persistent work saw a Macaulay Stewart effort deflected in to make it 3-0.
Some more impressive Callum Guy work saw the clinical Nico Maxfield released once
more and he finished to make it 4-0 and in the process register his fourth of the season.
The best however, was saved for last when Macaulay Stewart unleashed a thunderbolt
from distance which bulged the roof of the net to give the under 10s a 5-0 success and moved top of their division, having yet to concede a goal in three starts.
The goalscorers naturally receive the attention but this was a solid all round
TEAM performace from start to finish.
The visitors ADASC never gave up the fight and battled on to the end and we thank them
for the part they played in a game played in true spirit.
Next week the under 10s make the trip to Selston.

Referee`s player of the match Macaulay Stewart.
A good all round performance in defence and attack.
Well done Old Boys.
Saturday 06 September 2008: Market Warsop 0 Old Boys 1 (N Maxfield)
Old Boys Under 10's started the season off with a well earned win over Market Warsop at the John Fretwell Centre with a well taken goal by Nico Maxfield late in the first half. Against a very attack orientated Warsop side, Old Boys had to defend very well for long periods but with excellent passes from defence and especially Nathan Vaughan up to his forwards they could easily have scored more goals. Jordan Deville in goal for Old Boys did an excellent job keeping a clean sheet. The referees Player of the Match was Nathan Vaughan after a superb performance in defence. Well done Old Boys Under 10 !!!

My sincere thanks on behalf of the parent club committee to Garry Johnson, who did an excellent job in delivering the majority of the speeches at the awards and also to all those who helped in making the day such a success. I would also like to reiterate all of the thanks that Garry mentioned at the award for helpers, committee, supporters and every one else that has contributed either with their valued time and/or financial help, you are all fantastic people who have made a large contribution to taking this particular section of the club forward.
Finally, I would like to express our sincere thanks and state how proud the club is of the players. In their first season they have conducted themselves in an excellent manner and you could see the improvement on the pitch taking place in every game. The players also did a supreme job on behalf of the club when acting as ball boys/girls recently at Saltergate, once again flying the flag for the club with honour, dignity and maturity which belied their age, we thank each and every one of you and look forward to seeing you all in action again next season, enjoy the summer break.
