CLUB CONSTITUTION & CODE OF CONDUCT

Club Constitution

1. Name:

The club shall be called Bolsover Old Boys FC.

2. Objects:

The objects of the Club are to provide and make available to all regardless of, politics, age, race, religion, gender or other opinions, the means to play competitive / friendly football in a safe environment.

3. Status of the rules :

These rules form a binding agreement between each member of the club.

4. Rules And Regulations:

a. The Club shall have the status of an Affiliated Member Club of The Football Association by virtue of its affiliation to/membership of The Football Association. The Rules and Regulations of The Football Association Limited and parent County Association and any League or Competition to which the Club is affiliated for the time being shall be deemed to be incorporated into the Club rules.

b. No alteration can be made to the Club Rules except at an Annual General Meeting (AGM) or Special General Meeting (SGM) called for this purpose. Alterations to the Club Rules shall receive the assent of two thirds of the Members present and the approval of the Parent County Association.

c. The Club will also abide by The Football Association’s Child Protection Policies and Procedures, Codes of Conduct and the Equal Opportunities and Anti-Discrimination Policy.

d. The Club shall maintain Public Liability Insurance with an indemnity limit of not less than £2,000,000 which covers the correct amount of teams within the club.

e. The club shall maintain Professional Indemnity Insurance with an indemnity limit of not less than £1,000,000.

5. Management :

a. The affairs of the club shall be in the hands of the Executive Committee and Management Committee.

b. The Executive Committee shall consist of four members elected from the Management committee.

c. The Management Committee shall consist of the clubs Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer plus Team Managers and Assistant Team Managers.

d. The Management Committee will meet on a selected date of each month as necessary.

e. A quorum for a Management Committee meeting shall be 4 members.

f. All decisions of the Management Committee shall be decided by a simple majority. Voting shall be by a show of hands of those present. The Chairman shall have the casting vote.

6. A.G.M.

a. An Annual General Meeting (AGM) shall be held in each year to:

(i) Receive a report of the activities of the Club over the previous year

(ii) Receive a report of the Club’s finances over the previous year

(iii) Elect the members of the Club Committee

(iv) Consider any other business.

b. A Special General Meeting (SGM) may be called at any time by the Committee and shall be called within 21 days of the receipt by the Club Secretary of a requisition in writing signed by not less than five members stating the purposes for which the Meeting is required and the resolutions proposed. Business at an SGM may be any business that may be transacted at an AGM.

c. The quorum for the General Meeting shall be 6 members.

7. Club Membership:

a. The members of the Club from time to time shall be those persons listed in the register of members (the Membership Register) which shall be maintained by the Club Secretary.

b. Any person who wishes to be a member must apply on the Membership Application Form and deliver it to the Club. Election to membership shall be at the sole discretion of the Club Committee. Membership shall become effective upon an applicant’s name being entered in the Membership Register.

c. In the event of a member’s resignation or expulsion, his or her name shall be removed from the Membership Register.

d. The Football Association and parent County Association shall be given access to the Membership Register on demand.

e. Annual Membership of Bolsover Old Boys Football Club is £5.00 (adults) children Free.

f. The Club Committee shall have the authority to levy any increase or decrease in subscription in the future as may be reasonably necessary to fulfil the objects of the Club.

8. Resignation and Expulsion:

a. A member shall cease to be a member of the Club if, and from the date on which, he/she gives notice to the Club Committee of their resignation.

b. The Club Committee shall have the power to expel a member when, in their opinion, it would not be in the interests of the Club for them to remain a member, the member may appeal any decision to expel providing their request is submitted in writing, stating the grounds for appeal, to the Club Secretary within 21 days of the date of execution of the expulsion. The appeal will then be heard by the Club Committee within 21 days of receipt of the request.

c. A member who resigns or is expelled shall not be entitled to claim any, or a share of any, of the Club Property.

9. Finance:

a. A bank account shall be maintained in the name of the Club (the Parent Club Account). All monies payable to the Club shall be received by the Treasurer and deposited in the Parent Club Account.

b. The income and assets of the Club (the Club Property) shall be applied only in furtherance of the objects of the Club.

c. The Club Committee shall have power to authorise the payment of remuneration and expenses to any member of the Club and to any other person or persons for services rendered to the Club.

d. The Club shall keep proper accounts of all income and expenditure, cheques shall be signed by the Treasurer and the authorised Trustee member.

e. The Club shall prepare an annual financial summary/statement in such form as shall be published by the Football Association from time to time.

10. Dissolution:

a. A resolution to dissolve the Club shall only be proposed at a General Meeting and shall be carried by a majority of at least three-quarters of the members present.

b. The dissolution shall take effect from the date of the resolution and the members of the Club Committee shall be responsible for the winding up of the assets and liabilities of the Club.

c. Any surplus assets remaining after the discharge of the debts and liabilities of the Club shall be transferred to the parent Association who shall determine how the assets shall be utilised for the benefit of the game. Alternatively, such assets may be disposed of in such other manner as the members of the Club with the consent of the parent Association shall determine.

Code of Conduct for Parents and Spectators.

The parents/spectators have a great influence on children’s enjoyment and success in football. All children play football because they first and foremost love the game – its fun. It is important to remember that however good a child becomes at football it is important to reinforce the message that positive encouragement will contribute to:

1. Children enjoying football.

2. A sense of personal achievement.

3. Self esteem.

4. Improving the child’s skills and techniques.

A parents/spectator’s expectations and attitudes have a significant bearing on a child’s attitude towards:

1. Other players.

2. Officials.

3. Managers.

4. Spectators.

Spectators and parents at Bolsover Old Boys FC should always be positive and encouraging towards all of the children not just their own.

Parents and spectators should:

1. Applaud the opposition as well as their own team.

2. Avoid coaching during the game.

3. Not shout or scream.

4. Respect the referee’s decision.

5. Give attention to each of the children involved in football not just the most talented.

6. Give encouragement to everyone to participate in football.

Every parent and spectator has a responsibility to adhere to the Club’s Code of Conduct and Child Protection policy.

Coach / Manager Code of Conduct

1. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of each and every person and treat each equally within the context of the sport. Praise positive aspects of play and avoid becoming frustrated or ridiculing players by focusing on their failings.

2. Place the well-being and safety of each player above all other considerations, including the development of performance.

3. Adhere to all guidelines laid down within the constitution and the rules of The Football Association.

4. Develop an good working relationship with each player based on mutual trust and respect.

5. Coaches must not exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward.

6. Encourage and guide your players to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance.

7. Ensure that the activities you direct or advocate are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of your players.

8. Coaches should, at the outset, clarify with the players (and, where appropriate, parent) exactly what is expected of them and also what they are entitled to expect from their coach.

9. Co-operate fully with other specialists (e.g. other coaches, officials, sports scientists, doctors, physiotherapists) in the best interests of your players.

10. Always promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play) and never condone violations of the Laws of the Game, behaviour contrary to the spirit of the Laws of the Game or relevant rules and regulations or the use of prohibited substances or techniques.

11. Consistently display the highest standards of behaviour and endeavour to be a role model for players, parents and spectators.

12. Coaches must not use or tolerate inappropriate language.

Those in managerial or committee member roles carry a responsibility to ensure that these policies are consistently upheld and applied.

Players Code of Conduct

1. Play to enjoy football, not to please your parents or your coach.

2. Play by the rules.

3. Accept the decision of the Match Official without protest.

4. Work equally hard for yourself and the team – your teams performance will benefit and so will your own.

5. Accept success and failure, victory and defeat, equally.

6. Be a good sport. Applaud all good play, whether it is your own team or your opponents.

7. Treat all players as you would like to be treated.

8. Consistently display acceptable standards of behaviour.

Bolsover Old Boys Football Club - Child Protection Policy

This policy should be read in conjunction with The Football Association “Child Protection Procedures and Practices handbook”(November 2000 ). For any further detailed information please refer to that booklet or contact the Child Protection Officer (CPO) who will be in possession of a copy.

Every child or young person who plays or participates in football should be able to take part in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from abuse. This is the responsibility of every adult involved in football.

Bolsover Old Boys F.C. recognises its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children and young people by protecting them from physical, sexual or emotional harm and from neglect or bullying. We are determined to provide the highest possible standard of care.

The aims of Bolsover Old Boys F.C. Child Protection Policy are:

• To develop a positive and pro-active position in order to best protect all children and young people who play football enabling them to participate in an enjoyable and safe environment.

• To ensure all coaches at the club undertake child protection training.

• To demonstrate best practice in the area of child protection.

• To promote ethics and high standards throughout football.

The key principles underpinning this Policy are that:

• The child's welfare is, and must always be the paramount consideration.

• All children and young people have a right to be protected from abuse regardless of their age, gender, disability, culture, language, racial origin, religious beliefs or sexual identity.

• All suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately. Working in partnership with children and young people and their parents/carers is essential. Social Services Departments have a statutory responsibility to ensure the welfare of children and young people.

• Bolsover Old Boys F.C. is committed to working together with Social Services Departments and local Area Child Protection Committees (ACPC) in accordance with their procedures.
